Perry Montauredes: Voice Teacher

NJ Vocalist / Coach / Teacher - June 8, 2010

If you want to sing your very best, I can help you to achieve your goal. I can help you improve your tone, increase your range, power, improve pitch, placement, control, and generally make you a better singer. Through consistent work you will be singing better than ever.

My students include beginners who are just starting out, to professional singers who are performing and have recorded multiple CD’s. Many come from areas within Somerset, Hunterdon and Morris counties (Middlesex, Somerville, New Brunswick, Bridgewater, Watchung) as well as Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Poconos.

As you grow and your technique expands, you will learn to create subtle or dynamic song interpretations for live or recorded performances. You will have many more options available to you in interpreting the lyrics of a song. Don’t limit the possibilities, expand them. Listen to your favorite singers. They are most likely the ones that bring a song to life. This doesn't just happen. A lot of hard work goes into this process. That is the stage where I work with many professionals as a coach, either at a lesson, or in the studio during the recording sessions.

I have more than 20 years of experience in the recording industry as a professional vocalist and producer, and almost 20 years as a teacher. My commercial work, multiple recording projects and live performance experience has been extremely helpful in teaching my students. My classical foundation has allowed me to explore many styles and genres while maintaining a healthy technique.

Email me your questions, or specific vocal goals. I look forward to the opportunity to help you sing your best.

Caitlin Reilly, NJ - June 5, 2010

“I started taking lessons with Perry two years ago and I can honestly say my voice is a thousand times better than when I started, the difference is like night and day. Since starting my lessons I have gained control over my voice, rather than having it just do what it wants. I have a better overall tone to my voice and have reached a new level of focus changing the quality. He helps me immensely and thanks to his instruction I’ve gotten major roles in my school’s music productions and have also won the Seiler Vocal Award." –Caitlin Reilly, student since 2008

Irina Smirnova - NJ - October 12, 2009

Perry is an amazing teacher - he feels YOU, and helps YOU flourish. I'm only
beginning, and I'm already gaining confidence as a singer, AND... you won't believe
- as a photographer!

James Keelen, Sings at the US Open again! - June 28, 2009

Perry, thanks again for helping my son James prepare for the USTA casting call. The judges were very impressed. James was asked to perform "America the Beautiful", September 7, 2009 at the US Open during the evening session. Still can't believe he was chosen this year also. Thank you so much.

Briana Franco - Highbridge, NJ - June 5, 2009

I started taking lessons with Perry when I was a sophmore in high school and pursuing theater. Our weekly lessons left such an impact on me that after I came home from college I knew I wanted to start up with him again. He provides a warm and respectful environment for his students. Through lessons, I have been able to widen my range, control my breathing and gain the confidence to pursue all of my musical goals. My lessons with Perry are truly the highlight of my week.

Erin Rapp - N.J. - May 2, 2009

Perry, I am so incredibly pleased with my progress from only working with you for a short time. It's wonderful to know you and I look forward to further progression.

Tara Ortiz, NJ - November 17, 2008

"Perry has been a wonderful vocal coach. In such a short time of working with him, I have learned and progressed so much in terms of my sound and range, as well as my confidence in singing! I look forward to every lesson and feel I am gaining something new each time. Perry works at a personal level and it is obvious that he enjoys what he is doing very much! I am so glad I found him!"

Glenn Marczewski, Jr., Brooklyn,NY - May 31, 2007

Having been a music teacher myself, as well as a student of many different music teachers, I recognize that Perry understands the learning process, and is very good at communicating the very difficult and, at times, seemingly abstract techniques involved in singing until they become new habits. I have had several teachers who were brilliant instrumentalists, but were poor teachers, but this is not the case with Perry. He has helped me build confidence as a singer by showing me things in my singing that need improvement that I had not even been aware of or did not know how to adjust before, and working on them without being critical or negative, but by conscious and patient practice. It's well worth the time it takes to get from Brooklyn to New Jersey to study with him.

Eva Swan, student, NY,NY - April 24, 2007

Perry's vocal teaching emphasizes the development of strong flexible breath support and an exploration of a singers unique vocal quality and emotional expression. I find great integrity in his acceptance of different vocal styles and his resolve to assist each student with the development of their personal vision of themselves as a singer.
